As odd as it may seem, I honestly had no idea how big my library was until I started looking at it with the intention of publishing.
I’ve written a lot of stuff.
Even if I subtract the Dragon’s-Inn shared-world stories… I’ve still written a lot of stuff.
To date, I’ve published two of the more recently-written serials, and announced an upcoming anthology of older short stories. That still leaves… a lot of stuff. And I’m having a bit of trouble figuring out what to publish and in what order. Part of the problem is that there is no one right answer. Whatever I do won’t make some people happy. There are, however, some obviously wrong answers. Publishing a novelization of Darker before I published The Inquisitors is clearly wrong, as the first is a squeal to the second.
So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to make a list of upcoming projects in roughly the order in which I’m thinking of publishing them, and then maybe we can have a discussion. Even if no such discussion emerges, you’ll still have an idea of where my head is at in regard to upcoming projects. Here goes:
- October Falls.
- Crusade vol 1. (I don’t know how many volumes there will be, but this will be the first one or two stories in the series.)
- Magekiller (a collection of all the existing Magekiller stories. Plus maybe a new one or two)
- Other Side of the Eye (which I will need to finish writing).
- Crusade vol 2.
- Saint Noir/Darker (either as two novellas in one collection, or as two separate full-length novels)
- [unnamed anthology] (collecting all the remaining short stories, plus some new stuff).
- Crusade vol 3.
You’ll notice that I’m only including the existing work. Yes, I’ve got LOTS of ideas for new stuff that I intend to write, and I may decide to slip a new story or series into the mix at any point…. but that’s unlikely. Given my current pace, this list should keep me busy through next year. I don’t consider that a good thing; I’d like to have this old stuff out the door sooner rather than later, but I’m only one guy who sucks at pretty much every aspect of doing this except for (maybe) the writing itself. Also, by the time I’m most of the way down this list I should have a good idea of whether this is worthwhile or not before I put energy into something brand new.
So there you go. The List, as it stands now.

Apparently one of the security plugins I was testing has been interfering with people leaving comments. I’ve disabled it, so we should be good now.
Thanks.
I thought Magekiller was already published, but mention of new stories intrigues me. Crusade would be good. I seem to remember the story stopping in the middle of a plot line.
Heck, I’m just excited to see you back in action and I hope it ends up worth your while.
Some of the Magekiller stuff was indeed published under a different name, but it wasn’t the entire collection.
I have no idea how much you’ve actually written, but I’ve got copies of nearly a hundred of your stories on a thumb drive, along with over 40 stories by others from the old days.
The Crusade alone is over 1300 pages the way I have it formatted, and I’ve also got the old Field Notes and What IS the Crusade.
Hmmm, looking closer at the story as I have it on this thumb drive, I’m missing some of it. I’m gonna have to check my backups at home to see if I have the full thing.
I was never much of a fun of October Falls, if it was to vote I would put Crusade first.
But I admit that with my country as it is, with the dolar at almost 4 reals I will not be buying anything for now. Perhaps as a gift to myself for Christmas.
Whew, my backup at home had the missing chapters from my thumb drive. I thought Crusade had stopped at a different point.
I’m way to excited for The Crusade! The October Falls mythos is great too. Are you going to include the old Henry County Horror?
No, the Henry County Horror won’t be a part of this collection. It isn’t technically an October Falls story, although its connection to the town is stronger than most of the other random horror stories I’ve written. It’ll definitely be a key part of a future anthology, though.
