Welcome, Readers!
You may not realize it, but you’re visiting a piece of internet history.
When I created the original version of this website back in 1998, Facebook and Twitter didn’t exist yet, and Google was just a prototype. Gmail was still quite a few years into the future.
Yeah… I’m THAT old.
The original purpose of this site was to collect the stories that I’d started writing. My library was mostly serial action-fantasy set in the shared world of the alt.dragons-inn newsgroup (Go ask your parents what a newsgroup was. I’ll wait…), but there was a scattering of horror and science fiction as well. I wanted my stories to have a home, and I wanted people to read them.
I was a much more prolific writer back then. I wish I could say that I’ve been writing continuously since 1998, but I can’t. If I had… well, I probably wouldn’t be rich, but I’d most likely be a lot happier right now. And so would my fans.
But alas, life interferes. My life, my writing, and this website, have gone through lots of changes over the years. There have been a few side projects (Book of Dark Places, anyone?) and several unannounced, unexplained hiatuses lasting from months to years. My most recent new content was added back in 2012… a story that I never even bothered to finish.
Is that about to change? Yes. And so is this website.
I’ve decided to make some changes in my writing career. As in: I’m going to to try and HAVE a writing career. I’ll save the details for another blog post, but the short version is that I’m going to self-publish my work in ebook format on Amazon, starting later this year. As a result, the purpose of this website will change from “a place to read my stories” to more of a platform for me to connect with fans, announce new projects and, yes, sell my stories to people who might like to pay for them.
This will involve a complete redesign of the site. I’m going with a simple WordPress blog rather than the hand-crafted HTML pages that I’ve used since day one. Some sections such as the old blog and the old forum will be going away entirely. New sections and features may appear at random. All of this will take time , and the site will be very much a bare-bones work in progress for a few months as I focus more on getting stories ready to publish. Just bear with me for a while, and the site will come together.
I never was much of a blogger (or Twitter-er or Facebook-er), and I don’t expect to become one. Writing and writing-related activities (editing, etc) are more important than any of those things, so I’ll be focusing on what matters. But I WILL post updates and keep people informed on what’s happening with my writing on some schedule since that’s the entire purpose of the website now.
So bookmark the site (or join it or whatever the hell people do) and check back frequently. Randomly, even. Regardless of if you are an old fan or a new reader, I can promise that over the next few weeks and months, there will be changes and announcements that you won’t want to miss.
OK, as you know I`ve been following from the beginning and will remain around.
Glad to see you’re getting back in the writing game, D.I. . I’ve allways loved your work.
Welcome back DI, and good luck! I know I’ll be buying some of your work to reread these stories on my space phone.

Wow, I read your serialized December stories while I was still in high school…now mid-30’s and married…anyway, just wanted to let you know I always felt like I was reading an amazing graphic novel and wondered when you would publish your work. Just bought a copy of your ebook for Kindle. Keep writing!
